The Early Mail - The Jolly Boys & Bel Cappello Couture Launch Race Day - Saturday 30th April 2016

A field of eight will line up over the short course in the first of the day. The Craig Wright trained THIS FOX ROCKS (8) produced an encouraging track debut at the KBRC last start when finishing close up behind Here Comes Poppy. The daughter of Flying Pegasus settled on-speed last start and ran to the line strongly. Tash Faithfull will be aboard the galloper today. Leading trainer Peter Fernie has acquired OMERTA (3) to his stable who is looking to break maiden status at start five. The gelding is first up today but has had two starts this year so punters can bank on some residual fitness. The four year old has handed in some fair performances around the metropolitan area and has claims. Four year old ALL ADRIFT (1) resumes today for trainer Patrick Bermingham Jnr. The son of Discorsi has placed on two occasions from seven attempts with one of those being at the track. The four year old would have benefited from a good spell. ONE FOR THE GALS (2) lunged at the gates last start and was withdrawn. The gelding has shown enough to suggest he can figure in this event.

NUMBERS: 8-3-1-2

A compact field of seven will go over the 1400m in second where there looks to be many chances. The Paddy Bermingham Jnr trained STRATE RED (6) was unlucky last start when impeded for the majority of the straight in the run home. Up and coming apprentice Sarah Bonner has enjoyed success at our first three meetings and she will be looking to continue her good start to the season on the Bermingham galloper. Perth based trainer Dion Luciani brings BOOYAH BOY (4) to the Goldfields for the gelding’s eighth career start. The son of Haradasun has placed just once from his seven attempts to date but will appreciate a smaller field. Last start runner-up NINGBO (5) has solid claims in the event. The Star Witness filly produced a very good sectional last start when finishing behind Brasco’s Boy two weeks ago. The question with the filly lies with her consistency however a similar performance to last start will see her go close. The Brett Mathews trained FIERACAVALLI (2) can improve today at her second start. The four year old gelding was beaten three lengths on debut.

NUMBERS: 6-4-5-2

The first leg of the Quaddie looks to have four main chances. The Brett Mathews trained GREYSTAT (6) boxed on strongly last start when finishing third two weeks back behind Kamballie. The four year old has drawn favourably today and has the services of established rider Renee Forrest. The son of Statue Of Liberty will be having his third start on the circuit. The Dave Smith trained PLANET BLACK (4) has returned in great order this preparation and connections deserve a win. The Planet Five gelding has placed at all three starts this time in. Natasha Faithful will partner the three year old from barrier two. TAHGEO JAY (3) is on the short backup from Monday’s ANZAC Day meeting. The Peter Fernie trained galloper will have Glenn Smith aboard today with Faithfull deciding to ride Planet Black. The Vital Equine gelding has won twice at the track with both victories being over today’s distance of 1400m. The Paul Rowe trained BELLEVUE BULLET (2) finished off hard at his last start at the track. If the Saxon gelding can produce a similar sectional he will be in the top four.

NUMBERS: 6-4-3-2

The third on the card has a field of eight engaged where the main chances look at the top of the page. The Peter Fernie trained HAUL IN (1) has been close-up at his past couple and looks a big chance with barrier four today and the services of Glenn Smith. The Fath five year old produced a good sectional last start in an event that was stronger than this race. The five year old will have to lump the top weight of 59kg but is the class galloper engaged. BRECKENRIDGE (2) is a galloper who is starting to get to his best distance. The Bermingham Jnr trained galloper finished off strongly last start and will benefit from the engagement of senior rider Natasha Faithfull. Today’s run will be the four year old’s third run this preparation. Last start winner KAMBALLIE (3) chances in the event are enhanced by the claim of Sarah Bonner. The Blackfriars mare will carry 55.5kg and start from barrier two. FORMIDABLE STORM (5) is one to include in the novelties. The Tracey Frizzell trained mare comes from a stable that is currently performing well.

NUMBERS: 1-2-3-5

The feature on the card has seven gallopers going over the 1200m where a mixture of form lines clash. The Peter Fernie trained CROWN SAGA (4) was eye-catching when resuming last start. The Bel Esprit five year old launched from the tail at the 400m mark to go down less than two lengths behind Oosterman two weeks back. The mare has raced consistently for numerous seasons now and is well weighted in the event today. Six year old SATURDAY SKIES (7) comes into the race on the minimum after finishing close up last start. Tash Faithfull will pilot the gelding from barrier two with the galloper saluting over the 1200m prior to today. COMANCHE RED (1) continues to race consistently carrying larger weights. The galloper led the field up behind Lord Hatras when finishing fourth last start. There appears to be speed engaged today which will suit the chestnut. OOSTERMAN (2) has been racing sensationally for trainer Tracey Frizzell. The potential Achilles heel for the seven year old is Prager who is a natural speedster. If left alone the Esperance galloper can boot away at the turn.

NUMBERS: 4-7-1-2

The last on the card has the biggest field of the day engaged to go over the 1200m. The Bermingham Jnr trained ROADSINGER (2) looks hard to beat with the claim of Sarah Bonner. The Blackfriars gelding won in good fashion at our opening meeting defeating Ripping Yarn by two lengths. The five year old then finished fifth when being forced to race wide throughout. Dave Smith will saddle up YOUSHA DUA (8) who found traffic last start in the run home when finishing seventh. The Due Sasso mare’s first run was promising when third behind Leica Hussy. The galloper is well performed at the KBRC and can figure today. Smith’s father Cliff has ZABA ZABA DOO (1) engaged in the event coming of an unplaced performance at Narrogin. The five year old has filled a place at the KBRC five times from nine attempts including a victory. Mollie Clark will claim 3kg on the Galante owned galloper. EMJYE (6) has saluted at the track prior to today and can fill a place. The Peter Fernie trained galloper has drawn well today and has the services of Glenn Smith.
