Past the Post - Mother's Day Race Day - 8th May 2016

The KBRC's annual Mother's Day Race Day took place on Sunday which was highlighted by the SkyRacing.Tv Provincial Championship Series Heat.

The Peter Fernie trained High Limit produced a superb performance to win over the 1200m.

The Hussonet gelding has secured his opportunity to compete in the Provincial Championship Final on May 21 at Belmont Park.

The six year old has produced his best since arriving in the Goldfields with three wins from four attempts locally.

His effort today was sensational considering he carried 60.5kg.

Placegetters President Grover and Dear Dorothy will also be eligible to line up in the Provincial Championship Final which is worth $60,000.

Ben Kennedy was aboard High Limit which was the second leg of a double after winning on Rafferty in the RSM Australia Handicap.

The eight year old was positioned handy to the speed by Kennedy and proved too strong in the run to the line defeating his nearest rival Adricat by a length and a quarter.

Rafferty brought up his second win at the track for a host of local connections returning each way odds.

The Kalgoorlie Stationery Plus Office Choice Handicap was taken out by hotpot Master Winks who was sent out in the red by punters.

The galloper is prepared by veteran KBRC trainer George Grljusich who enjoyed his first winner for the season.

The four year old put the writing on the wall last start when going down a narrow margin behind Jingtang.

Jockey Willie White produced his mount at the top of the straight and proved too strong for Longschamp winning by a clear margin.

Eleven year old Zuboyne broke a 2134 day winning drought taking out the Jarahfire Drilling Handicap.

The Neil Dellar trained gelding was ridden perfectly by 4kg claiming apprentice Bonnie Palise when being settled rearwards and subsequently producing a fast sectional to defeat Make Your Move.

The Kalgoorlie Hydair Drives maiden was taken out by Madame Choisir who returned good odds for backers.

The mare who is trained by local fireman Trevor Tasker was superb after being forced to cover additional ground in the middle stages.

Kate Witten urged the four year old to the line to defeat Antalya and Cuvee Louise.

The Goldfields Engraving & Tyrepower maiden was taken out by Anisau.

The Demerit three year old was mighty impressive when coming from the tail, being the widest on the turn and gunning down Mince Pie who looked to have a winning lead at the furlong pole.

The three year old was Damian Miller's sole engagement on the day and saluted making the trip from Pinjarra worthwhile.


Clint Johnson Porter, last years leading apprentice took out the award with a win and two seconds.
