Smith holds strong hand for Hotels Race Day
Local trainer David Smith is confident his stable can perform well at the KBRC on Sunday.
Smith has seven of his gallopers engaged and believes that Planet Black and Attamor are his best chances to attain his first win of Season 2016.
Planet Black will line up in the Gala Hotel Handicap where he will race over 1600m for the first time in his career.
The galloper has been ultra-consistent at his three runs to date this preparation placing on each occasion.
The son of Planet Five finished second at his most recent start behind Tahgeo Jay who has been racing extremely well for Peter Fernie.
Smith believes that stepping his three year old up to the mile for the first time will be beneficial to the galloper’s chances.
“He’s shown every sign in his races that the mile will suit, he hasn’t been stopping in his races he just keeps finding the line” Smith said.
“He doesn’t have a big turn of foot, I’ve always had the desire to run him over the mile and now that he’s a three year old I’m comfortable putting him over the distance and looking forward to see him run”
Natasha Faithfull will pilot the gelding from barrier seven.
Smith believes Attamor will perform well in the Tower Hotel Handicap over 1400m.
Smith acquired Attamor from his father and former multiple KBRC leading trainer award winner Cliff.
Attamor raced keenly throughout last start and still managed to hit the line strongly when finishing second.
“He has drawn barrier two and Lucy on I am confident he will run well, he looks a million bucks and I think he is a big chance”
“With the gate we will work forward when they jump, he’s a headstrong horse and I believe he will be best suited rolling forward”
Lucy Warwick will ride at the KBRC for the first time this season after taking out muitiple rider of the day awards last year.
Smith believes Bohemian Goddess is an each way chance in the 2016 Tentland Tickets Available Now Maiden.
The Discorsi filly will have her fifth career start at the track tomorrow coming off a close up performance behind One For The Gals.
“She’s really come along from her last run and I think she will be amongst it come the post”
“We were forced to drop back from the gate last start, being young she was reluctant to go through runners but she finished the line off strongly”
Smith currently has nine gallopers in his stable with three more arriving this Sunday.
