The first on the card is a maiden event over the 1300m. Metropolitan based trainer David Harrison sends CLEVE’S WATCHING (4) to Kalgoorlie for the galloper’s seventh career start. The son of Bel Esprit will have his second start this preparation coming off a five length defeat at Belmont Park last start. The Mt Hallowell Stud owned three year old steps up to the 1300m today which should suit and will have the services of gun apprentice Jordan Turner. Danehill Express mare ANYWHERE ANYHOW (8) has been thereabouts at all five starts this preparation. The Esperance galloper tried to lead throughout last start and was gunned down finishing fourth behind Bohemian Goddess. Steven Parnham will ride the mare for the first time today. GALACTIC RULER (3) can improve second up. Glenn Smith will pilot the Universal Ruler gelding from barrier three. FIERACAVALLI (1) drops back from the 1300m today. The second on the card is another maiden event where it appears a very open affair. Jason Miller sends STANTON ABBEY (1) to the Goldfields in an attempt to break maiden status at start thirteen. The son of Big Brown has placed on four occasions previously. The four year old was unlucky last start when trapped wide throughout. Last week’s Neometals Rider of the Day Lucy Warwick has the mount. Former Kalgoorlie based trainer Aaron Bazeley sends LADY EMILY (9) to the KBRC coming off some good performances in the Great Southern. The Lonhro mare will have to overcome the outside. R3 APPRENTICESHIP SUPPORT AUSTRALIA HANDICAP 1600m 1:53
The open class event of the day has nine runners engaged. Delago Brom eight year old ADRICAT (3) should be well suited by the step up to the mile. The Blackfriars seven year old finished close up last start and will be aided by an advantage in the weights. Last start winner RAFFERTY (1) has drawn well for his assignment today. SATURDAY SKIES (9) has won over 1800m earlier in his career indicating he will run the mile out.
R4 KALGOORLIE-BOULDER CHAMBER OF COMMERCE HANDICAP 1400m 2:27
The first leg of the Quaddie is an interesting affair with numerous gallopers coming out of the Provincial Championship Heat where they failed to figure. The Jo Forrest trained DARK ROYALTY (1) raced wide from the 600m in the heat but put the writing on the wall the start before suggesting he has come back in good fashion this preparation. The Blackfriars four year old has drawn barrier three today. Look for him to unleash in the final stages. Visitor PHANTOM CHOICE (6) has been racing well coming into the event. The Parnham trained galloper has won at the track. DARADALE (3) was disappointing last start but can bounce back. THIDWICK THE MOOSE (2) will be race fit now and can figure.
R5 SRW SHEDS HANDICAP 1300m 3:08
A field of nine will jump from the 1300m in the fifth. The Peter Fernie trained JINGTANG (1) was forced to sit wide once again last start when going down a nose behind Penalty Point. The Starcraft three year old has drawn barrier five today and looks the special of the day. GREYSTAT (6) handed in a better performance last start when second behind Attamor. The Mathews trained four year old has been knocking on the door. YOUSHA DUA (5) looks a chance over the 1300m where she is well performed. The Dave Smith trained mare will have the services of Lucy Warwick. Last start maiden winner NINGBO (8) was a late scratching last week but will line up today. The Merv Dellar trained filly annihilated her rivals last star.
R6 DESERT CONCRETE HANDICAP 1200m 3:38
Plenty of speed is engaged in the sixth where a field of ten will go over the 1200m. Paddy Bermingham Jnr’s ROADSINGER (3) is looking to make it three wins from four starts this preparation at the KBRC. Esperance trainer Tracey Frizzell has elected to race PRESIDENT GROVER (6) in the event as opposed to competing in the Provincial Championship where the four year old was guaranteed a start. The Statue of Liberty gelding has drawn ideally and will have Clint Johnston-Porter aboard. Last start winner KILLORGLIN (8) is on the seven day back up. The Neville Newton trained gelding was shuffled back to the tail last start and flew late to win over 1100m. Randy Tan will claim on the son of Bianconi. The George Grljusich trained DEAR DOROTHY (5) has returned this preparation in good fashion and a win doesn’t look too far away. Renee Forrest will be legged aboard today.
R7 ACORN HUMAN RESOURCES HANDICAP 1100m 4:10
The last on the card is over the 1100m where sparks will fly. The Merv Dellar trained A BIT SKETCHY (7) looks an each way chance in the event when finishing third last start. The Excellent Art mare will carry 53.5kg with the claim of Tayla Stone. Impressive last start winner MASTER WINKS (1) looks hard to beat coming off a dominant victory second up. The Grljusich four year old will have to lump the allocated 59.5kg today with Grljusich electing not to claim. LONGSCHAMP (4) is an each way chance today. The consistent five year old has placed at three of four starts this preparation. Gary Bowen owns and trains the five year old.
