The Mines Rovers Footy Club Race Day took place on Sunday where race goers were subjected to big fields with several each way hopes saluting throughout the day.

The Doug Milne & Frosty Martin MRFC Handicap was taken out by Wonorg who brought his sensational Albany form to the Goldfields proving too strong for Adricat who was narrowly beaten.

Wonorg has won four of his past five races with trainer Brett Southcott getting the best out of the Redoubtable gelding recently.

Lisa Staples continued her good relationship with the seven year old after being aboard for all of the galloper’s victories in the Great Southern.

Wichita Linesman made it two from two attempts at the KBRC in the MM Electrical & Data Supplies Handicap.

The Dan Morton trained three year old was given a sensational ride by stable apprentice Sarah Bonner sitting on pace and proving too strong over the last 200m.

The son of Danehill Express defeated Artie’s Belle and Yeah Yeah Yeah who crossed the line together.

Quaddie punters were dealt a blow in the Salty’s Surf & Skate Handicap when The Cruel Sea saluted.

The Blackfriars four year old had been disappointing this preparation prior this his victory on Sunday failing to place at three attempts this time in.

Brad Parnham bustled the grey out of the gates to settle closer to the speed and subsequently found a passage in the straight to defeat The Express by a nose.

The Austline Rubber & Conveyors Handicap saw a wide open market with the Steve Wolfe trained My Greek Boy taking out the event.

At the furlong pole Gary Bowen’s Longschamp looked to have the race shot to pieces however My Greek Boy had an unmatched acceleration to the line going on to win comfortably.

Wolfe has maintained a high opinion of the Myboycharlie three year old throughout his short career with the presumed ability now starting to show.

Brad Parnham rode a double on the day with the first leg brought up in the Roofing Solutions Kalgoorlie & Tieri Roofing Handicap with M’Lady Hallowell.

The Mt Hallowell Stud owned mare was a victim of bad luck last start when tramping wide throughout and finishing well back.

Parnham settled the daughter of Wanted worse than midfield prior to taking off with a sweeping run to defeat pacemaker Alvares (2nd) and race favourite Tahgeo Jay (3rd).

The JR Turner Cabinets Maiden over 1200m had a busy finish with three quarters of the field looking a winning chance at the 200m mark.

It was Mama Bear and I’m Gunna who broke away from the remainder of the field to fight it out with I’m Gunna proving too strong for Randy Tan and Kyle Stammers.

The Onemorenomore mare broke maiden status at start three and is yet to be unplaced.

Favourite punters were happy in the Gill Smash Repairs Maiden with the George Grljusich trained filly Danerip’s Girl taking out the event.

Renee Forrest settled the daughter of Alfred Nobel midfield and timed her run home to perfection with the three year old going on to win by a length and a half.

The galloper was having her second start for Grljusich after an unlucky second last start when missing the jump.


Shaun McGruddy and Brad Parnham shared the honours.
