Past the Post - Because We Can Relay For Life Team Race Day - 26th June 2016
A big eight race card took place on Sunday where racegoers were treated to sensational conditions trackside.
The feature race of the day was The Overland Sunday Roast Handicap where hotpot Prohurst Express justified his short price when saluting in good fashion.
Lucy Warwick piloted the son of Danehill Express to victory after settling him worse than midfield.
The Peter Fernie trained galloper was pulled out at the top of the straight and went on to defeat The Express by a length and a quarter.
Fernie had another good day at the KBRC with a treble, including Tahgeo Jay who took out the Goldfields Printing Company Handicap over 1760m.
Lucy Warwick was aboard the chestnut who looks a big contender for horse of the year with this victory being the fourth this preparation.
The victory was easy viewing for punters who took the shorts with the galloper jetting away to win by over four lengths.
Master Winks was another short priced favourite that saluted on Sunday.
The George Grljusich trained galloper was far too good for his rivals winning by two lenghts.
Clint Johnston-Porter was in the saddle for the victory, who settled the galloper midfield prior to improving before the turn and running away for an easy victory.
Trainer Merv Dellar notched another victory at the KBRC with the Excellent Art mare A Bit Sketchy in the Goldfields Pest Control Handicap.
The mare was sent out at an each way quote in an open market, and was settled midfield by apprentice Randy Tan before hitting the line aboard the Dellar trained galloper with an unmatched accelleration.
Artie's Belle finished second with the margin being a length and a half.
The Explosives Manufacturers Services Handicap delivered George Grljusich a double with newcomer Grand Reward producing a strong turn of foot to defeat Omerta.
The win also delivered Clint Johnston-Porter a double, with the talented apprentice producing a gun ride on the former metropolitan based galloper.
Rickie Brown and Tash Faithfull combined with Besannrose to take out the 2016 Round 18-25 September Maiden.
The four year old was sent to Esperance after contracting a virus after her first two starts this preparation, Brown put her back into work and she lived up to her first two runs earlier this season.
The $12 Bevvy Bet & Book Maiden was taken out Galactic Ruler with Brad Parnham in the saddle.
Parnham settled the galloper midfield over the 1400m, with the Fernie trained galloper producing a fast sectional to defeat Clocker by a length and a half.
The 2016 Boulder Cup Naming Rights Raffle Maiden over 1400m was not without drama where a fall occurred at the 200m mark.
New Attire, who took out the event was pulled out by Lucy Warwick well into the straight who proved too strong for Tinker Tailor and All Adrift.
Ice Maker fell after interference behind New Attire, Expresso Rock also lost its rider after interference with Ice Maker.
Jo Azzopardi (Ice Maker) and Kate Witten (Expresso Rock) were both cleared of serious injury but did not fulfil their engagements.
NEOMETALS RIDER OF THE DAY
