Inglis Hopeful of Tatt's Cup Glory

Local owner Andrew Inglis holds a strong hand in this year’s Goldfields Tattersall’s Club Cup to be run tomorrow at the KBRC.

Inglis has Small And Spicy and Black Moment engaged in the event, both of which are proven over a staying journey.

Small And Spicy has only had three runs this preparation with Inglis and trainer Peter Fernie giving him a good spell after a fourteen start preparation in 2015.

The son of McFlirt had a brilliant season at the KBRC last year when winning four consecutive races between 1760m and 2200m.

“He did a brilliant job for us last year, he held his form for a long time and we are hoping to he can perform well once again” Inglis said.

The eight year old produced a gutsy win when third up last start, with the galloper heading Kronfeld and having to hold him off for the majority of the straight.

“I thought it was terrific, stepping up over ground for the first time this preparation”

“I really like the way he hit the line and fought on strongly”

Glenn Smith will ride the chestnut once again, with the talented rider being aboard the galloper for five of his eight career victories.

“Glenn rode him brilliantly last start, he know the horse well”

Inglis is hopeful that the step up the 2350m will enhance the chances of Black Moment tomorrow.

The nine year old finished third in last year’s Kalgoorlie Cup when storming home under the riding of Jordan Turner.

Turner has been engaged to ride Black Moment once again, with the Backfriars gelding expected to drop out early and produce a strong sectional.

Inglis and Fernie decided to give the son of Blackfriars a lengthy spell likewise to Small And Spicy, targeting him for the cups in September.

Black Moment produced an encouraging third last start coming out of the same event as Small And Spicy.

“He got home the quickest last start, it was only his third start this time in and I was happy with how he ran on”

The horse has won all seven career victories beyond 2000m and will once again be targeted for the Round staying features, the Statewest Group Boulder Cup and the XXXX Gold Kalgoorlie Cup.
