Military Service Primed for Hannans
Impressive Racing’s head trainer Darren Mc Auliffe is confident that Military Ruler will perform well in today’s $120,000 TABtouch Hannans Handicap.
The five year old will have his second run back in the Goldfields’ sprinting feature after an eleven week break away from the track.
The son of Universal Ruler resumed in good fashion last start when finishing third in the listed Farnley Stakes at Belmont Park.
Military Ruler was urged out of the gates in the Farnley, sitting outside the leader and fighting on strongly to place in the event over 1400m.
The Farnley stakes has been a traditional lead up to the Hannans Handicap for metropolitan based gallopers.
Military Ruler was the first across the line of the six gallopers that are coming out of the Farnley Stakes.
Jordan Turner will ride the chestnut in today’s feature, with the gelding drawing barrier ten for his assignment.
Mc Auliffe will instruct Turner to work forward on the galloper and obtain a prominent position early in the race.
Mc Auliffe is no stranger to success over Race Round, with the Lark Hill based taking out the 2014 Coolgardie Cup with Express Service.
Express Service then went on to the Hannans Handicap eighteen days later and was narrowly beaten by Sireeze when carrying the top weight of 59kg.
Military Ruler is a $6.50 chance with TABtouch fixed odds betting.
