Morton Opens Account Early by The Gurkha

It didnít take Dan Morton long to open his account with his satellite stable at the KBRC, when Cadia Street won the Worldbase-Gerard Antonio Maiden ridden by his apprentice Felicity Ives.

Cadia Street was a ten start maiden before Saturdays win and the drop in class certainly helped the Zentsov Street five year old.

"I was very happy with the way he trialled at Belmont Park before heading up to Kalgoorlie. The slight drop in grade certainly helped him and Felicity gave him a gun ride from barrier one." Morton said.

Morton's other runners on the day all raced well, giving the city trainer plenty of reasons to be optimistic for the coming weeks.

"Hussation, Nova Park and Catdancer were all about the place and Snuff Gruffles was badly held up at a vital stage and will be hard to beat next time out."

Morton continued his good form with a double at Pinjarra on Cup day with Beguile and Hinzley both winning their maidens.

"Those two winners could be seen up at Kalgoorlie throughout the year-thatís the idea to keep the team nice and fresh up there and place the horses in the easier company to maximise the return to the owners." Morton concluded.
