The Kid Makes An Auspicious Debut by The Gurkha
The debut Goldfields win of former Victorian trained gelding Comanche Kid could not have been more exciting, descending on his rivals from back in the field to record an awesome first up victory.
The familiar yellow and black colours of Andrew Inglis were carried by comeback jockey Brett Mathews for trainer Peter Fernie.
"Peter found him through his contacts over east and he has been impressing in track work" Inglis said " He has now won three races from ten starts and being by Danehill Dancer he looks to have a bit of class about him."
The former Mike Moroney trained gelding had won both of his races at Geelong and looks a bargain buy for Inglis.
Unfortunately for Mathews his dream comeback was tempered in the steward’s room when he was suspended for 13 days after causing interference on Don’t Park in the Worldbase Securities Pty Ltd Handicap.
