Misty On Fire by The Gurkha
Leading jockey Misty Bazeley again showed she is the most inform of the local jockeys currently riding in Kalgoorlie.
She gave the heavily backed Wild Champagne a perfect ride to win the Strudwick HR Handicap (1200 metres) even after her mount appeared to give her a handful of a ride.
Bazeley positioned Wild Champagne right behind the leader Poppies For Spring before chasing her down in the straight.
Her ride on Siamese Cat to finish second to Major Canny was a ripper.
She found the front and then rated Siamese Cat to perfection only to be run down by Major Canny close to home. It appeared Starley was intent on following every move that Bazeley made and she may well be entitled to half the winning riders fee!
Bazeley also positioned Zipfer brilliantly in the last race and at the 600 metres; Zipfer was the horse that looked most likely to win.
However he didnít see out the 1760 metres of the race but could not have been ridden any better. Watch for Zipfer to drop back in trip and be very hard to beat at his next start.
Bazeley has now ridden eight winners for the season and is equal with Mitchell Pateman atop of the Office National Leading Jockeys Award.
However the super fit mother of two, commenced a 21 day suspension on June 17 and will be back on July 9 after incurring the wrath of RWWA Stewards at Belmont Park aboard Maybe us on June 13.
