Black Tycoon Ready For Tatts Cup Showing by The Gurkha
The Trent Brown trained Black Tycoon could not have been more impressive with his win in the Western Areas Wager Handicap (1760m) and the rangy Blackfriars gelding is looming as the dominant force for the $40,000 Raglan Drilling-GTC Tatts Cup (2300m) at the KBRC on August 19.
Leading jockey Misty Bazeley rode a patient race on Black Tycoon, sitting last in the small field before getting busy coming to the home bend and Black Tycoon did the rest, easily running past the courageous pace maker Morsecodian to register his third career victory.
“He was the only horse to win coming from behind on Sunday. It was a dynamite leader’s day so you have to add something for the way he won.” Brown told The Gurkha “That was a superb ride from Misty and she had one word when she came back to scale-Wow!”
“Black Tycoon needed that run today and had a bit of a blow after the race so he should be spot-on for the step up to 2300 metres in a fortnight.”
“Mitchell Pateman will ride him in the Tatts Cup. Misty is committed to Secret Glow and the claim will get his weight down to 55kg.”
Brown has had a stellar start to his debut year as a trainer and is poised to bring some of his better horses back next week.
“Foryouandme and Phase Three will both go around and stable new comer Bear Trader will also start.”
