Durrant Four Handed For Race Round by The Gurkha

Last season’s leading Metropolitan trainer Adam Durrant is focused on a strong showing at this year’s Race Round.

Spurred on by his inability to win the $150,000 XXXX Gold Kalgoorlie Cup, Durrant will use a change of tactics this year as he attempts to realize his burning ambition to win the big one.

“I will be floating my horses back to the home base after the $110,000 Goldline Distributors Boulder Cup and travelling back for the Kalgoorlie Cup.” Durrant told the Gurkha from Port Hedland where he was a special guest for the Port Hedland Cup.

“Staying in Kalgoorlie has not worked as far as winning the Kalgoorlie Cup is concerned so it is time for a change of tactics.”

Durrant will target Double Barrel, Reverend Lovejoy, Big Attitude and super sprinter Texan for the Round.

“Double Barrel finished fourth in the Kalgoorlie Cup last year and his last start win at Belmont Park shows he has come back better than ever.”

“The Reverend has already won two Boulder Cups (09, 11) and a Coolgardie Cup (2009) and his run behind Double Barrel was very exciting.”

“The $130,000 Hannan’s looks a perfect race for Texan, an on pace runner and hard to get past.”

“Big Attitude is a bit of an unknown and we’ll leave our options open with him.”

Durrant is also poised to be a major player in the upcoming Broome Carnival.
