R1 MISTER SIGNS MAIDEN 1200m 1:22
The first of the day will see a field of eleven take to the track looking for their first win. The Craig Wright trained TINKER TAILOR (6) was mighty impressive in her trial last week at the track. The four year old blitzed her rivals in the trial by seven lengths and wasn’t shaken up in the run home. Natasha Faithfull will ride the mare from gate seven. Last start debutant MISS HARLEY QUINN (9) can improve on her effort last start. The Paddy Bermingham Jnr trained filly finished close up last start. Inform apprentice Sarah Bonner will be legged aboard today and will have the advantage of barrier two. Esperance galloper ANYWHERE ANYHOW (7) has been racing well without threatening. The Helen Harding trained mare has a favourable draw for her assignment today. CROSSWALK (4) has disappointed punters at her past two starts locally. The mare can figure today and will be aided by the fact that she has settled into her Goldfields stable.
R2 KALGOORLIE MINER MAIDEN 1400m 1:57
The second on the card has the local maiden gallopers stepping up to the 1400m for the first time this season. The Brett Mathews trained ARTIE’S BELLE (7) placed at odds last start when having her first start in WA. Simone Altieri will be able to position the Artie Schiller three year old just off the speed from barrier five. Stephen Rowe sends CUVEE LOUISE (8) to Kalgoorlie for her fifth career start. The three year old has ran some handy races in the metropolitan area and will enjoy the drop in class today. Willie White will ride the Not A Single Doubt filly who may have to settle rearwards with a wide draw. Trevor Tasker will be hoping MADAME CHOISIR (5) can break maiden status today. The four year old finished close up behind Brasco’s Boy last start when having her second run back. Esperance galloper JUNGLE JAGUAR (1) should be included in your novelties. The gelding is yet to win from seventeen starts but has ran some handy races at the Kalgoorlie circuit.
R3 MASTERS FOOTBALL CLUB HANDICAP 1400m 2:35
Leading Goldfields trainer Peter Fernie looks a big chance to notch another winner at the KBRC today. Four year old YEAH YEAH YEAH (1) has had a couple of runs back now and looks well suited in this event today. The Oratorio gelding has drawn well and will appreciate the claim of Tayla Stone. Last start maiden winner BRASCO’S BOY (2) looks to have claims over the 1400m. The son of Lonhro was dominant last start and should enjoy an economic run from barrier five. LITTLE MISSY TIDE (9) will represent value in the field of nine. The Esperance based galloper has saluted at the track prior to today. ATTAMOR (3) produced an eye catching run last start and can figure in the first four.
R4 DRINK DRIVING – IT’S NEVER OK HANDICAP 1100m 3:49
The first leg of the Quaddie has a compact field of eight to go over the short course. The well performed FAT AMY (5) returns to the track today coming off a sensational campaign last year. The Due Sasso mare looks one to follow this year. The Fernie trained galloper is well weighted and should go close first up. The Gary Bowen trained BATTLE OF EVERMORE (7) can improve today. The galloper finished close up last start and possesses a good second up record. PROHURST EXPRESS (2) was encouraging when having his first start for Peter Fernie. Ben Kennedy will position the galloper close to the speed from barrier one. BUTTERFLY KISS (8) can place based on her first up run.
R5 LONG TAN HANDICAP 1300m 3:49
The feature of the day has a field of ten engaged to go over the 1300m.The Neville Newton trained COMANCHE RED (1) has returned in good order this preparation. The Flying Pegasus gelding has drawn better for his assignment today. Apprentice Sarah Bonner will be able to position the six year old closer to the speed today and produce him at the top of the straight. PRIVATE BUSINESS (2) was impressive last start when finishing second. Expect the chestnut to settle near the tail and reel of a good sectional. HELLYER (7) finished close up at his most recent start. The Exceed And Excel gelding will have the services of talented apprentice Jordan Turner. LORD HATRAS (5) is well performed second up and can figure in the placings.
R6 WESTERN FRONT HANDICAP 1200m 4:20
There is plenty of speed engaged in the sixth where a field of nine will take to the track. Tracey Frizzell has had a stellar start to the season this year and will be hoping it can continue with RIPPING YARN (6). The six year old flew home late last start behind Roadsinger on a day when back markers struggled. The Gary Bowen trained LONGSCHAMP (3) has returned in good order with two placings from two starts this time in. The Bletchley Park five year old had a big lead at the furlong pole last start but was ran down in the final stages. If Fiona Bell can give the galloper a cosy run he will prove hard to beat. MASTER WINKS (4) will have his first run for veteran trainer George Grljusich today. The four year old trialed well at the track earlier in the month. Speedy type MU MU LAND (7) missed the start at her last run. If Tash Faithfull positions her on speed she will be thereabouts come the post.
R7 AMCT HANDICAP 1200m 4:57
The last on the card has a handy field of ten to go over the 1200m. The Peter Fernie trained THE CRUEL SEA (3) resumes today and looks hard to beat based on last year’s preparation. The grey has won four from thirteen and is well performed first up. Last year’s leading jockey Glenn Smith will be aboard the four year old. Racegoers will be watching DARK ROYALTY (1) with interest after the Jo Forrest trained galloper won four of his five starts last year. The four year old has drawn well for his assignment today. Last start winner KILLORGLIN (10) has claims in the event. The son of Bianconi ran down the pacemaker last start in good fashion and is well performed over the 1200m. HIGH LIMIT (2) has been well performed since arriving in Kalgoorlie. The Fernie trained six year old will have Ben Kennedy aboard who will have to overcome the outside gate for his assignment today.
